Terms and Conditions
The terms on which you may use this website and pay for a membership, an event, or make a voluntary contribution.
Effective from 7 August 2026. These terms apply to everyone who uses https://jainismthinker.org.
1. Who we are
Jainism Thinker is a community initiative for the study, teaching and preservation of Jain dharma, scripture and heritage. It publishes devotional and educational material, runs study camps (shivirs) and knowledge contests, and maintains an online library and Jain calendar.
We are not a registered charity, NGO, society or trust. Jainism Thinker is an unregistered community initiative .
Because of this, no payment made through this website qualifies for any tax deduction or exemption, including under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. We do not issue 80G receipts, and we do not claim to. Any acknowledgement we send is a simple record of your payment, not a tax certificate.
2. What you can pay for
This website accepts payment for three clearly separate things.
a. Membership
Membership is a paid service with defined benefits, offered at several levels. In return for the membership fee you receive a digital membership card, access to members-only material on the site, and priority when registering for our events. Membership benefits and their duration are shown on the membership page at the time you pay, and those are the terms that apply to your membership.
b. Event registration
Some shivirs and programmes carry a registration fee. What the fee covers, and the dates and venue, are stated on the event page before you pay.
c. Voluntary contribution
You may contribute a sum of your choosing toward a stated activity — for example tirth and manuscript preservation, study camps, or the running of this website. A contribution is entirely voluntary. It buys no goods, entitles you to no service, and confers no membership, ownership, control or influence over our activities.
3. Payments
- All amounts are in Indian Rupees (INR) and include any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
- Online payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We never see or store your card, UPI PIN, or banking credentials.
- Your payment is confirmed only once our payment provider reports it as successful. A pending or failed transaction creates no membership and no obligation on either side.
- If your bank debits you but the payment does not reach us, the amount is normally reversed by your bank within 5–7 working days. Write to us if it is not.
4. Using this website
You agree not to:
- use the site for anything unlawful, or in a way that disrupts it for others;
- attempt to gain access to any account, server or data that is not yours;
- submit content that is abusive, misleading, or infringes anybody's rights;
- reproduce our compiled material commercially without written permission.
We may suspend or remove any account that breaks these terms. If we cancel a paid membership for a breach, we will refund the unused portion of the period you paid for.
5. Content and rights
Jain scripture, mantras and traditional texts published here belong to the tradition and are reproduced for study and devotion. Our own compilation, translations, transliterations, design, photographs and software remain ours. You are welcome to read, print and share our material for personal, educational and non-commercial use, with attribution to https://jainismthinker.org.
Video content shown in the Media section is hosted on YouTube and remains subject to YouTube's own terms.
6. Accuracy
We prepare the calendar, scripture and event information here with care, but we do not warrant that it is free of error. Tithi and parva dates in particular can vary by tradition and region — please confirm with your own acharya or panchang before relying on a date for religious observance.
7. Limitation of liability
This website is provided as it is. To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from its use. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The version on this page, with the effective date shown above, is the one that applies. Material changes will be noted on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
10. Grievances
If something has gone wrong, write to contact@jainismthinker.org with your name, phone number, payment reference and what happened. We acknowledge within 2 working days and aim to resolve within 7 working days.
